One of my goals for 2023 was to write more. Writing is a big part of my daily process, which I touch on in this post. I decided to restart a blog I used to write called Base Hit Investing.
I’ll add my name to the chorus of folks who have missed base hit investing. It was one of my favorite financial blogs. Glad that you will be sharing your ideas on this new platform.
John, glad to see you writing again. I learned a lot in the mid 2010s from your old posts. What’s your stack for managing information? Do you use any apps for organizing information other than Journalytics? (Unreal that Buffett/ Munger keep it all in their brains. I can barely keep track of the wife’s to do list)
I use a few different tools for managing notes and information. Journalytic is becoming the central nervous system of my entire process. They are a really fast moving speedboat of an organization and they're adding lots of new features on a frequent basis, so eventually some of these others might get replaced, but my other primary software tools are: Notion for keeping lists of projects I'm working on; Apple Notes for day to day tasks and other "short-term" lists; and Google Sheets for all my watchlists. I have a number of other vendors I use for research, but those are the main organizational tools I use daily for writing and tracking things.
A bit late but very glad that you are back to writing regularly. Your blog was one of my favorites and I have learned a lot over the years. Looking forward to more!

John, So happy to hear you’ve decided to publish your thoughts more often. I’m sure many will benefit from your sharing as I have over the years.
We couldn’t agree more with your thoughts on how writing improves the investment thought process. We look forward to following along!
